PARKING LOT
The parking lot is next to the football field, playground, and school. The parking lot has handicapped parking. Between the parking lot and the school there is a row of trees. Parents drop off their kids that don't take the bus. They have parties parties and special events like the school barbecue. It is very big. The parking lot is right next to the District Office. You are allowed to park any type of vehicle there. The parking lot is open until dusk except parties. The kids afterschool programs can ride roller skates, skateboards, scooters, heelies, and bikes. You can buy the tickets for the parties in the parking lot. The parking lot is not inside.

PLAYGROUND
The playground is outside the third grade wing. The pond is also near the playground. Recess is the best time to play with your friends. There are basketball nets, a kickball field, an upper playground and a lower playground. We have a jungle gym and a walking path and a climbing wall. It is so, so fun!

POND
Two years ago, there was a birthday pond fundraiser and parents can send in money in honor of their child's birthday. The pond was built last year in the spring. It's outside near the playground. The pond is oval shaped and it has a little waterfall. In the pond, there are lots of fish called koi, and there's also tall plants, water lilies with flowers on them, and lots of small and big rocks. There are snails, there used to be plants called elephant ears, and there's some floating duckweed. There was a baby turtle in there, but you couldn't see it!

THE FIELD
The field is outside and you can play baseball there. It has grass, dirt, mud and dew. When it rains the dirt is soggy. The field belongs to the high school, and it is ours too. I think there is still construction on the field. The field has bases. The field is actually a baseball field. When you get on the bus and you go up and up the hill, you will see the field. These are some things I learned about the field.

FRONT ENTRANCE
The front entrance is in the middle of the school. It is where kids get dropped off and picked up by the buses. There are benches and a water fountain outside. In the winter they put up a wreath.

FRONT ENTRANCE
Inside the front entrance is the office. Also, next to the front entrance are some bulletin boards. When you go in the front entrance and you look up, there is a flag that was designed by Kaitlyn Rozanski. In the front entrance the after school clubs meet before going to their spots. The front entrance is where kids leave school joyfully.

NURSE'S OFFICE
The nurse's office is between the main office and the art room. The nurse is Mrs. Mezo, and she has two children in sixth grade. The nurse's office is connected to the main office. Mrs. Mezo has a bathroom, two couches, and her own little office. The attendance goes to Mrs. Mezo. When you are sick or hurt, you go there, and Mrs. Mezo will take good care of you.

ART ROOM
The art room is between the purple and the blue wings. Mrs. Kincade is the teacher, and she's really nice. There are seven tables. Six are for us to use and the seventh one is for Mrs. Kincade. There are shelves to store supplies and art that we do. You can draw, paint, color, and make sculptures with clay and paper in the art room. We have a kiln that fires clay. There are huge papier mache insects hanging from the ceiling. The art room is fun!

COMPUTER LAB
The computer lab is where we have computer class. Mr. Ward teaches us how to use the computers. There is a big projector screen and small computers we can use. There is also a white board and air conditioning. On the computers you can play Math Blaster, Type to Learn, Kidspiration. We also use PowerPoint, Word, and do the SRI reading test. You could also look on the internet. There are also afterschool clubs in the lab. The movie club makes films and the digital photography club does all sorts of things with photographs. It is so much fun there!

LIBRARY
If you walk down the main hallway, you will get to the library. It's filled with books. There are two teachers, Mrs. Carpentieri and Mrs. Thomas. It's really big. There's artwork in the library like drawings, prints, and statues. The teachers are nice and they make it so you have fun there. There are two desks, a bunch of tables, a curved bench to sit on, some comfortable chairs, and even two beanbags. (That's a great place to read!)

THE GYM
The gym is located downstairs with the stage. The gym is very big. There is a curtain separating the gym from the stage. In the gym there is a rock climbing wall, basketball hoops, bleachers, and mats that we sometimes use. Mr. Kraft and Mr. Freitag run the gym. Mr. Kraft's office is also in the gym. We have P.E. there and sometimes we have indoor recess there. Middle and high school students use it for indoor soccer, volleyball, and basketball. The gym is a very fun place to be!

THE STAGE
The stage is one place in the school where we play music. It is part of the gym, and it is really big. The stage is mostly used for concerts and assemblies for all the grades. The fourth and fifth graders also practice chorus there. There is also instrument practice there too. Every time there is an assembly the red curtains open and Mr. Miele comes and introduces the people. It is a great place.

BAND ROOM
The band room is where you get really interested in playing different instruments. The third graders learn to play the recorder, the fourth and fifth graders learn to play in the band. The person who teaches the band and recorder classes is named Mr. Rossi. He plays lots of instruments. Mr. Rossi is very fun to be with. In the room, there are practice rooms, about 30 chairs, and some stands to hold music. The band room is in the purple wing. We all love band and recorder!

THE MUSIC ROOM
The music room is where we go to have vocal music. Mrs. Mirwis is the teacher. We sing songs, and we use different instruments. Sometimes we play jellybean bingo. At the end of the class, we put a leaf on the music plant on the board. Then we push the button on the plant and it plays a song.

SCIENCE LAB
The Science Lab is between the blue wing and the purple wing. Mr. Curran is in charge and teaches science. Earlier this year, the fifth graders made eco-columns (mini habitats), the fourth graders learned all about plants by growing Wisconsin Fast Plants, and the third graders learned about measurement. There are always more new things happening! There is a wasp's nest in the corner of the room, and also there are skulls near the windowsill. The Science Lab is a great place to learn science!

MAIN CORRIDOR
The main corridor is a big curve. There are beams in the ceiling, and at the end of each classroom wing are skylights and colored circles in the floor. Each wing has a different color. When it's time for the Celebrate the Arts night, Mrs. Kincade hangs all of the kids' artwork in the corridor.

CAFETERIA & KITCHEN
The cafeteria is next to the green wing. The kitchen is all grey. Across from the yellow is the kitchen. All afterschool things are there. The cafeteria is where we eat. The lost and found is in the cafeteria. The cooks are nice. There are seven tables. The lunch man cleans the floor.

THE TEACHER'S LOUNGE
The teachers' lounge is located near the cafeteria. The teachers' lounge is where the teachers lounge, laugh and drink coffee. They also eat lunch there. In the teachers' room there is a sink, a toaster, a microwave, a refrigerator, a coffee maker, a soda machine, and the laminating machine. Of course, there are tables and chairs. There is an old telephone booth. It is made out of wood and it comes from the old Columbus Avenue School. Most kids do not know what the teachers' room looks like.

CLASSROOM WINGS
Did you know that there are four classroom wings and each has a different color? The yellow wing is the third grade wing, the green wing is the fourth grade wing, the blue wing is the fifth grade wing, and the purple wing is the BOCES wing and the music wing. A lot of things match the colors of the wings-the chairs, the tile and floor in the circles where the wing meets the main corridor, the paint and floor tiles in the wings, and even the frames of the bulletin board and white board! There are six classrooms per wing, four with beamed ceilings and two without. The classrooms are really beautiful at Kensico.

SECRET PIANO LAB
The "secret" piano lab is located downstairs behind the gym and the stage. There are about 11 keyboards in this room. They all have light up keys on them. Mr. Rossi, our school band teacher, uses this room for the afterschool club Junior Mozarts, which I am in. I think this room is really cool! [NOTE: This room is no longer quite so "secret" as it had been...it is now the strings room! No word yet on whether it will also be the piano lab anymore...]
