Kensico School is dedicated to educating
students to become self-directed, life-long learners
by integrating the efforts of home, school, and

Student Goals

Encourage students to become:
    • Involved, responsible citizens, who are respectful of themselves, other people, and the world around them
    • Capable decision makers and problem solvers
    • Effective, literate communicators
    • Self-motivated, independent learners

Philosophy of Enrichment

Enrichment is the process of providing opportunities for children to explore and acquire knowledge beyond the regular curriculum.

The Kensico School philosophy of enrichment recognizes that children develop their talents at different maturational rates and offers 
opportunities throughout their educational experience.

The following principles guide our enrichment program:
    • Enrichment supports the school's mission statement to foster self-motivated, independent learners.
    • Enrichment allows opportunities for a student to explore a chosen interest in depth with an adult as a mentor.
    • Enrichment views the role of adults as creating an atmosphere or environment that enhances a child's motivation and desire to pursue independent learning.
    • Enrichment allows for each child's unique abilities to be stretched and cultivated, and encourages creativity and commitment to task.
    • Enrichment does not always involve different activities, but different expectations and varied outcomes for the same activities.
