Joy Distenfeld was the District’s school psychologist for 15 years. Joy took particular interest in guiding and enhancing the academic development of the gifted and talented students of the District. It was her wish, just prior to her death in early 1984, to establish a fund from which these students would receive a stipend to attend a pre-approved summer program to supplement their regular curriculum by exploring and fully developing their abilities and talents.

Dear Kensico School Family

On behalf of Kensico School PTA, we would like to welcome everyone to a new school year! We heartily encourage you to get involved in PTA events throughout the year. Without your help, none of these events can take place successfully; the children enjoy having you involved in their school! Our first meeting is on Tuesday, October 18th at 7:30pm in the Kensico School Library. Please attend and learn more about upcoming events, meet other parents and find out more about how you can be a part of the PTA.

Kensico School PTA has exciting changes for the school year. Our Annual Fall Picnic is Free of Charge this year! The Joint Virginia Road/Kensico PTA Picnic will be on Saturday, September 17th from 12pm – 3pm at Kensico School (rain or shine). This is a wonderful event for families to enjoy great food, entertainment, and the company of other school families and teachers. A fun-filled day has been planned for everyone.

Our Annual Fundraising has begun. We started the year with our First Direct Appeal Program. The PTA fundraisers provide most of the support for our Arts in Education programs and offset the cost of trips for all grade levels. Your participation is greatly appreciated! Remember – fundraising directly supports cultural programs, trips and other important events that the children enjoy at Kensico.

We look forward to meeting you at the Fall Picnic on September 17th and at Kensico School’s Open House on Thursday September 30th at 7:00pm.
